Torquay woman leaves note for husband ‘Gone for a run – To Blackpool’
Torquay’s Irene Hewings, a member of the Riviera International Centre, got up this morning and decided to go for a run with her good friend Debbie Drake from Dawlish. She left her husband a note who left for work this morning saying that she’d gone for a run.. To Blackpool.
Irene and Debbie are a great example of living life to the full and have been running for the past 6 years, including the London and Rome Marathon, across the Great Wall of China and also a 40 mile run at Brecon Beacon which turned out to be 43 miles due to a slight mishap on directions.
They set off from the Riviera International Centre, Torquay, at 9.40 this morning with just a small backpack each. They plan to run an estimated 25 miles a day up the country to the lights of Blackpool, stopping at various B&B’s along the way. Once at Blackpool Irene and Debbie then plan to run a 10k race just for a free T-shirt at the end of it. By the time Irene’s husband finds out she has done a runner they’ll be in Exeter!
