
Torquay Welcomes Miss England for the 1st Time
Following the success of Charlotte Holmes, who won Miss Devon in 2012 and ultimately went on to be crowned Miss England, Torquay has been selected to host the prestigious Miss England 2013 grand final for the 1st time.
Tickets have just gone on sale for the final which takes place on Sunday 16th June at the Riviera International Centre in Torquay. In addition the prestigious Mr England final will take place on Saturday 15th June and both will culminate with a Catwalk Show that has been described by Organiser Angie Beasley as ‘simply spectacular.’
Miss England 2012, Charlotte Holmes from Plymouth said, “I am delighted that the Miss England 2013 grand final is being held on my home turf and really hope to see another Miss Devon follow in my footsteps.”
The reigning Miss England Charlotte Holmes is originally from Torpoint and won the Miss Devon title last April. Afterwards she went on to win Miss England before subsequently being placed 8th in the Miss World competition in China. This year, as Torquay is the host venue, it has been given the opportunity to submit two contestants; Miss Devon and also Miss Torquay.
“The beautiful Ami Crosby was awarded the Miss Torquay title at a Heat in February. She is now set to compete alongside Miss Devon to win the coveted Miss England title. It’s now time for local residents to all rally around to support her,” said Linda Hill of Torbay Tourism Association who helped bring the Contest to Torquay.
This year the 72 Miss England contestants will compete for the title of Miss England and a prize package including an all expenses paid trip to the Miss World final and a trip to the island of Mauritius, who is sponsoring the 2013 competition once again.
