THHN - A fantastic local charity
My name is Martin Brook and I’m proud to be the director of the Torbay Holiday Helpers Network. For those who don’t already know us, we provide free fun filled memory making holidays to families who have seriously ill children, families who are recently bereaved – having lost a child or parent - and to families who have a terminally ill parent. This benefits the whole family enormously and gives them happy memories to treasure forever. So far some 700 families and 3,000+ individuals have benefited!
The businesses in our Network are amazing. They happily offer up their accommodation and services free of charge, all year round, including the peak season. We’ve also got a fantastic army of supporters who’ve enabled us to raise the funds to buy a new Lodge, which will be adapted and equipped to accommodate children, who, not only suffer a serious illness but also have more complex disability needs.
This is what the Celebration Ball at the Riviera Centre is all about. The aim is to raise enough money to remodel and equip the Lodge, so that families who may never have been able to take a holiday together before will finally be able to do so, knowing they’ll have the wheelchair space and access their child needs, and a level of specialist equipment needed. The Celebration Ball will feature an auction and raffle, with lots including two return flights to New York and a ‘super car’ adventure outing. Money raised by the auction will go towards specific items for the Lodge, so that bidders will see how their cash can help our work.
We’re so excited to be hosting this Ball, and so grateful to everyone who has donated auction lots or supported the event in any way. Now it’s over to you to come along and enjoy a great night out, in the knowledge that you’re also going to be helping us to give an estimated 500 families in need something money can’t buy; memories of a happy holiday together that we can take for granted but for some maybe the only one they’ve ever had or actually the last one together.
The Celebration Ball is being held on Friday 8th June at the Riviera Centre and tickets are only £40 per person! With this you will get:
