The Rainbow Ball Returns to the RICC
Torbay’s most outrageous night of the year is back!
This popular ball has been revived for 2017 to commemorate the life and work of Dr David Sinclair (20th March 1958 – 15th May 2016) who set up the HIV service in Torbay and ran if for almost 20 years.
David and his wife Dr Mel Hearn loved attending the ball and Mel said it was ‘the best event in our social calendar’. Mel has been a driving force in creating #RainbowBallTQ 2017.
With almost 300 tickets sold already (mid-July), this is sure to be a night to remember! Party-goers are encouraged to dress to impress – with outrageous outfits actively welcomed.
Over its first 10 years (2001 – 2011) the ball raised over £100,000 for local charities. After a 6 year absence, the ball has been revived for a night of fun and fundraising. This year the event charities are:
- The Elton John Aids Foundation funds frontline programmes that help to alleviate the pain of those living with, affected by or at risk of HIV/AIDS.
- X-Plore Youth Group is a Devon based charity which aims to provide a safe space for young lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people to meet others of a similar age.
Sponsorship packages for the event are still available and additional raffle prizes will be gratefully received.
