Riviera International Centre Update
The Riviera International Conference Centre, Torquay are pleased to confirm that virtually all areas of the building are fully functional, following the fire incident in the early hours of Monday morning, 22 June 2015
Work began immediately to assess the damage and restore the areas affected.
Simon Jolly, General Manager said:
“Most of the building is getting back to normal, with the exception of our new Aqua Lounge café bar which we hope to be able to reopen very soon – all be it in a temporary state of repair. The Health Club and Swimming Pool both reopened on Tuesday, and we are today hosting the BT Openreach Roadshow which is using our 3 main conference rooms”.
“The main kitchen remains out of use as we are still assessing the effects of the fire on various pieces of kitchen equipment. However, we have managed to turn our terrace BBQ Shack into a temporary kitchen for the Aqua Lounge, and we are currently investigating plans to bring a mobile kitchen on site to support event catering”.
In the early hours of Monday morning the Fire Service were called to a fire that had broken out in the main kitchen of the Riviera International Centre. There was no one in the building at the time and the fire was quickly brought under control.
The effectiveness of the sprinklers unfortunately caused water damage to some parts of the Centre including our brand new Aqua Lounge which has remained closed.
