Riviera Centre voted favourite Leisure Centre in Devon
The results have now been revealed for the prestigious Primary Times Star Awards 2012...
The Awards invited parents of children aged 4 to 11 across Devon to vote for their favourite local family-friendly places and entertainment.
The results of these unique awards provide a vital snapshot of which businesses are excelling in a harsh economic climate. Categories included favourite swimming pool/leisure centre; family attraction; family eating house; indoor play centre; stately home or historical attraction; party venue/entertainer; craft activity provider; children’s clothes/shoe shop; toy shop; book shop, bike store and holiday destination.
Making a big splash in the Swimming Pool/Leisure Centre category was Torquay’s Riviera International Centre who gained the highest proportion of votes submitted for any category.
Tanya Brimicombe, Waves Leisure Pool Manager said: “We strive to provide family friendly facilities, good value for money and friendly, efficient staff and so we are delighted to have this recognised as the readers favourite Swimming Pool & Leisure Centre. We hold our customers opinion with the upmost importance and to us there is no greater compliment than to receive such an award voted by local families.”
The nomination survey was included in the October 2012 edition of the family centred Primary Times magazine. The magazine is aimed at parents and distributed to 90% of primary schools across Devon. In addition this year, there was also the chance for families to make nominations online via the Primary Times website.
In the survey families were asked a series of straight-forward open-ended questions. Suggestive questions and multiple choice answers were deliberately omitted from the survey to test for unprompted responses. The answers were revealing and portrayed an honest reflection of where families prefer to spend their leisure time and buy their goods.
Anne Blackham, Sales and Marketing Manager at Primary Times said: “Once again we are delighted by the number of readers who took the time and effort to complete the Reader Star Award survey so we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who entered.”
