Riviera Centre burns calories to support Breast Cancer Care
October was breast cancer awareness month and as the nights draw in, to liven up Fridays, Breast Cancer Care created 'Pink Fridays' to raise awareness and funds for the charity.
On Friday 29th October in support of the campaign, Lifestyle Health & Fitness Suite at the Riviera International Centre, joined in with a 'Pink Aerobics Class.' This involved the encouragement of all participants of the FX Friday Extra Class to wear pink with the promise that for everyone who did they would donate the cost of their Class entry to Breast Cancer Care.
Aerobics Instructor Sue Dyer said "I really wanted to support the cause in any way I could as breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK with nearly 46,000 people diagnosed every year in the UK."
In a further attempt to support the cause, the Centre sold pink cakes for £1.50 which went straight to Breast Cancer Care, and encouraged customers as well as their staff to wear pink. With their efforts they raised £93.81. Informative leaflets about breast cancer were also available throughout the Centre during Pink Friday as part of their mission to not only help raise funds for breast cancer sufferers, but to help promote the importance of early detection.
