RICC New Management Structure Confirmed
It’s been announced by Cris Boyce; Chairman of the Riviera International Conference Centre, that Simon Jolly has been appointed as the new General Manager.
Simon joined the RICC in 1992 and has since amassed extensive experience in many different Departments. This was one of many attributes that made Simon an ideal candidate to undertake the new role.
Simon began his journey at the RICC as a part-time lifeguard & gym instructor whilst studying at South Devon College. Upon completion of his Leisure Management course, he was promoted to Assistant Manager of Lifestyle Health & Fitness Suite. He then moved into the position of Front of House Manager and undertook this role for 5 years before leaving to travel around the world. When Simon returned from his travels he was appointed Conference & Events Manager which involved overseeing 5 Departments and approximately 50 full & part time members of staff. His responsibilities involved looking after events such as the National Federation of Young Farmers, British Medical Association Conference, the NUT and many others.
Following the retirement of the RICC’s former Managing Director Barry Cole and the appointment of a new Board of Directors in April, Simon took on additional responsibilities as Acting General Manager.
“Whilst undertaking the role as Acting General Manager Simon demonstrated excellent leadership skills, exercised sound judgement and carried out his duties with great energy and diligence,” said Cris Boyce.
He continued: “Simon shares our passion and vision for returning the RICC to a sound financial basis and his appointment is a key part of our future strategy.”
During Simon’s career, he has shared many experiences at the RICC including his Wedding Reception which he held at the Centre following his Wedding Ceremony in Las Vegas. Upon his recommendation his parents also chose to celebrate their Ruby Wedding Anniversary at the Centre and his 3-year-old son will shortly be starting swimming lessons at the Centre’s swimming pool.
“I was thrilled and honoured to have been offered the position of General Manager. I have a long history associated with the RICC but it is the future that I am most passionate about. I firmly believe that the success of the RICC is vitally important to the future of the English Riviera.”
