Professional boxing returns to the English Riviera in September!

After the success of ‘Best of Devon’ in June, Midlands-based promoter, Errol Johnson, has once again teamed up with Carl Robson’s Boxing Stable in Plympton to host the ‘Best Of Devon 2’ at the Riviera International Centre, Torquay, on Saturday, 13th September.
Plymouth Cruiserweight, Courtney Richards, will once again top the bill as he looks to build on his stunning one round demolition of Lee Kellett last time out.
Richards blew his opponent away to claim the British Bronze Masters Cruiserweight Title on a balmy night on the coast.
This time around, the 21-year-old will be looking to add an International Masters strap and avenge defeat when he takes on an old adversary.
Richards faces Henry Smith for the International Masters Cruiserweight Title. The Bristolian won an entertaining four-round contest when the pair met in March. Smith scored a narrow 39-38 victory and Richards will be looking to exact revenge and collect another belt when they meet this time around.
“We’re looking forward to putting on another great night of boxing for the fans in Devon,” explained Johnson. “We had a great time in June and you could tell that the south coast public enjoyed having professional boxing back in the area.
“Courtney is a good prospect and a fight against Henry Smith guarantees one thing; fireworks! They’ve met before over four rounds; over 8 it will be explosive!
“Together with Carl’s Boxing Stable, we’re looking to build something special on the English Riviera. We need the support of boxing fans to make these shows a regular fixture in the sporting calendar.”
After their triple success in June, popular Exeter trio – ‘Pretty Boy’ Freddy Kiwitt, Faheem Khan and Lewis Browning – are all back in action.
Kiwitt put Kevin McCauley to the sword back in June and the unbeaten welterweight will be looking to make it 5-0 in September.
Fellow welterweight, Khan, will be looking to build on his victory over durable Brummie, Jason Nesbitt, when he takes on debutant Jamie Ingleby.
Lewis Browning has his eyes on Jamie Speight’s Southern Area Super-Featherweight Title. September may be a fight too soon for the ambitious Browning though. His fight in June was his first for two years and he looks set to tune up for a shot against Speight by taking on Swindon’s Joe Beeden.
Torquay’s Torryn Pook who, like Browning, returned from a two-year ring exile in June, will be looking to build on that impressive points victory over Beeden.
Completing the line-up is Plymouth super featherweight, Chris Adaway, who will be making his professional debut.
