
National Fitness Day - Meet Dom
It’s #NationalFitnessDay so we decided to go and talk to Dom one of Lifestyle Fitness Instructors at the Riviera Centre in Torquay. Dom has been working with the Lifestyle team now for 4 years and loves his job. From meeting lots of different people to helping clients and being active are three of his favourite aspects about his job!
What is your favourite exercise?
My favourite exercise in the gym is to bench press. It’s a great compound exercise which I enjoy doing, but mainly every guy loves doing a bench press.
What is your usual gym routine?
Warm Up
15 minute run on the treadmill (or any cardio based machine)
Then he moves on to bench pressing which mixed with squats and lifts for maximum results.
Cool Down
Stretching, which is extremely important.
What is your most popular question from clients?
How to tone up!
What is your favourite sport outside of the gym?
Most definitely boxing
What does your daily diet consist of?
Breakfast: Porridge, protein powder, frozen berries, yogurt and a scoop of peanut butter
Lunch: A meat but my preference is a lean beef with sweet potatoes and green veg
Dinner: My dinner is similar to lunch but instead of meat I tend to have Tuna or Salmon with brown rice and green veg.
What is your favourite treat?
Ben and Jerry’s Cookie Dough Ice Cream.
What is your top tip to start Bench Pressing?
Start off light and work on the machines first. Make sure you have the correct technique and gradually progress on to the weights. Ask one of our fitness instructors here at the Riviera Centre if you have any questions. We are happy to help you improve your fitness whatever your goal is.
