Green bake off to support the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning
A Torquay coffee-shop raised £304 by taking part in Macmillan Cancer Support's World's Biggest Coffee Morning.
The Bay Brasserie, located in the Riviera Centre celebrated all things green by baking green cakes, wearing green clothing and decorating the coffee shop with green balloons and bunting. They also ran a raffle with a selection of prizes including a Membership to Lifestyle Health & Fitness Suite. 100% off the raffle proceeds and cake sales were donated to Macmillan Cancer Support. The Bay Brasserie also made a donation of the income received from their food and hot drink combo deals.
Staff at the Centre organised a mufti day encouraging everyone to wear green to show support of the cause. “We felt compelled to support this worthy charity, said Naomi Morris, Bay Brasserie Supervisor, "as due to the statistics that 1 in 3 people will get cancer it is likely that many of us will be affected in some way during our lifetime by this disease.”
The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan Cancer Support's flagship event. Last year more than 43,000 official coffee mornings were held, raising more than £8 million for the charity.
