
Free Seminars to the Hospitality Trade
A business and tourism exhibition organised by the Federation of Small Businesses, the Riviera International Centre and the English Riviera Tourism Company will be offering a range of free seminars and talks to local members of the hospitality industry. The Exhibition, which is in its second year, will take place on Thursday 7th April at the Riviera International Centre and offers a great networking opportunity with over 75 Companies exhibiting.
Speakers include Mike Atkinson of AA Hotel Services who will be delivering a seminar entitled “Hospitality & Service. An explanation of how the hotel inspector assesses your team.” The seminar will detail into what AA Hotel inspectors look for when they stay at establishments, and will provide tips on how to improve inspection scores, staff performance and most importantly guest satisfaction and return rates. Other speakers include John Reynolds who will provide an overview of some emerging new digital technologies and how they can be utilised to strengthen your brand, and Carolyn Custerson CEO of the English Riviera Tourism Company who will be delivering an Industry Update.
“A lot has been achieved since the ERTC launched 6 months ago, said Carolyn “And the first stages of implementing the ‘Turning the Tide for Tourism in Torbay’ strategy have got off to a fast start. The Industry Update will detail into two new films that have been launched on YouTube to promote the resort, as well as several new style publications and new style online consumer marketing. There will be an overview of the our visit to ITB Berlin; the world’s largest travel exhibition to target the German speaking markets, the commissioning of a major new website, and the first English Riviera App to be launched in autumn 2011.”
In addition there will be seminars entitled “Business Law Update for the hospitality industry” by Hooper & Wollen, “VAT in Hospitality, Leisure & Tourism” by HM Revenue & Customs, “Tax Planning and Pitfalls for the Tourism Industry” by Peplows and “How to tie elastic to your guests and beat Trip Advisor at their own game” by Great or Poor.
The Exhibition will take place from 10am to 4.30pm and is particularly suitable for accommodation providers to attend. All seminars need to be registered for in advance, with the exception of Carolyn Custerson’s Industry Update.
