Fitness and Surfing the waves at the Riviera Centre, Torquay
The Riviera Centre, Torquay, are delighted to unveil a brand new and very different fitness class: Surf-Fit; a completely unique water circuit class offering a fun total body workout.
The class takes place in the water, so is low impact and therefore suitable to all fitness levels. It incorporates water resistance, paddle boards and weights all aimed at improving balance, strength and endurance, encompassing all the enjoyment of the pool with health and fitness.
Jon Sims, Personal Trainer at the Riviera Centre, Torquay and brains behind the new concept said:
“I was keen to find a new and exciting way of working-out that incorporated the water sports I love and the unique qualities offered by the Waves Pool at the Riviera Centre. The simulated Waves machine was obviously my first inspiration!
Along with a couple of like-minded water-sports loving friends we have created a water inspired circuit, incorporating surf boards.
We have been excited about the response from participants so far who have loved the challenge of something so new and different”
Being the first of its kind, in the UK, the session has attracted the attention of the ASA (Amateur Swimming Association) who are planning to film the class to inspire other leisure centres to follow suit.
Surf-Fit is open to all ages from 16 years+. Classes cost £4.20 for non-member, £3.20 for members or free to Riviera Centre Platinum Members. For more information or to book call Lifestyle Health and Fitness Suite on 01803 206 345.
