Christmas Fayre in aid of Muscular Dystrophy was a Great Success

A CHRISTMAS Fayre was recently held at the Riviera International Conference Centre to help raise money for Muscular Dystrophy UK.
The fayre was organised by Liz Keenan, whose son James was diagnosed with the muscle wasting condition, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy 18 months ago, and helped to raise £3,221 for the charity.
Currently there is no cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which is why Liz and her family feel so strongly about raising vital funds for the charity who are helping to support ongoing research.
Liz said: "We are 18 months in to this journey and we wanted to do something positive to help raise awareness of the condition, and raise funds that will aid vital research to help find an eventual cure for this terrible condition.
"Christmas is such a magical time, and it seemed like the perfect time to do something like this, and do something positive. The support from everyone has been fantastic and in particular we would like to thank Francis Clark, TIS International school and the Riviera Centre for sponsoring the Event."
The fayre hosted a variety of Christmas craft stalls for people to purchase presents, and decorations. There was also a raffle with 75 prizes including Star Wars toy bundles and Lego sets.
Liz added: "Our son loves Star Wars, so as special guests we had Star Wars Storm Troopers attending the fayre to meet some fans."
As well as the fun and games, a representative of Muscular Dystrophy UK also attended the fayre to give a presentation on the condition.
Liz said: "It was so busy that I didn't get the chance to speak to everyone. It was lovely, everyone was saying what a wonderful time they had, and we are now hoping to make it a regular event.
"It was so worthwhile, and we were completely overwhelmed by the response from everyone."
