'Best yet' hope for birthday Sleep Walk
MORE than 700 women have already signed up for the Rowcroft Hospice Sleep Walk.
Back for its second year, the women-only night walk will take place on July 21.
Organisers hope the event will be the best yet, to mark Rowcroft's 30th birthday.
Laura Carus, events manager at Rowcroft said: "Last year, more than 1,800 walkers took to the streets of Torbay in their pyjamas to raise a phenomenal amount for the hospice.
"This year, we are excited to be using the Riviera International Conference Centre as our start and finish venue. It's enabled us to open up the event to a total of 3,000 ladies. We're sure this year's event will be an even bigger success."
The Sleep Walk is a sponsored night walk open to women aged 12 and over. Walkers can choose from a five-, 10- or new 15-mile route, starting and finishing at the RICC in Torquay, via all-important refreshment and rest stops.
National drinks brand Shloer is sponsoring the event.
Jenny Thompson, operations manager at the RICC, said: "We are over the moon to be hosting the Sleep Walk and working with Rowcroft.
"It is a fantastic community event and the centre is perfect for the amount of people that will be coming through."
Organisers are anticipating that places will continue to fill fast.
Register for the event at www.rowcroftsleepwalk.org.uk or by calling the Rowcroft events team on 01803 217641.
Organisers are also on the lookout for a crew of helpers to enable the event to run smoothly.
