An evening with Sir Viv Richards

On Saturday 10th September, for one night only, Torquay will be embracing two cricket legends; Sir Viv Richards and Rodney Hogg at an evening presented by Paignton Cricket Club.

The evening will take place at the Riviera International Centre and includes a four course dinner.

“This is possibly a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear from one of the greatest ever batsman; Sir Viv Richards” said Barry Cole, Managing Director of the Riviera Centre.

Viv Richards is a former West Indian cricketer who has received many accolades during his prestigious career including being voted as one of the five Cricketers of the Century in 2000 and voted as the third greatest ever player in a 2004 ESPN poll.

His 189 runs against England at Old Trafford in 1984 are now regarded as one of the greatest one-day innings of all time. However, Viv’s most memorable moment is during a World Series match at Gloucester Park in Perth when a female streaker interrupted the match. “There was this beautiful creature dressed only in her birthday suit, said Viv. “I thought, ‘Man, this is not cricket!’”

Rodney Hogg started his career in Australia as a batsman before switching to be a bowler. Rodney first entered the spotlight during the 1978-79 Ashes home series versus England where Rodney took 41 wickets at an average of 12.85 during the six-match series.

Both Rodney and Viv’s guest appearances are part of a National Tour.
